Cardiopulmonary stress test / veloergometry in children

Cardiopulmonary stress test / veloergometry in children

Cardiopulmonary stress test is a non-invasive method that enables simultaneous evaluation of the functioning of cardiovascular, respiratory and muscle system at rest, during precisely dosed physical load and recovery period, to determine the physical work capacity with higher precision, as well as causes that limit it.

This enables early detection and evaluation of cardiopulmonary functional disorders and the development of efficient training programme. Additional blood lactate level measurement is possible during the test for more precise assessment of anaerobic threshold.

Veloergometry is most commonly used examination method for the initial diagnostics of coronary artery disease (CAD), as well as for determining the severity degree thereof.

The cardiopulmonary stress test is performed in children starting from the age of 6 - 8, depending on their height.

National Health Service (NHS), insurance company and paid services are available.
