Seafarers’ Medical Commission – internationally recognized medical examinations and certificates

Our Seafarers’ Medical Commission provides fast, accurate, and internationally approved medical examinations for seafarers in accordance with the requirements of the World Health Organization and the International Labour Organization (ILO/WHO/D.2/1997 Geneva). The issued certificates are recognized in many countries worldwide and comply with MLC (Maritime Labour Convention) standards.

Internationally recognized seafarers’ medical certificates

We issue the following seafarers’ medical certificates:

  • Latvian seafarers’ medical certificates

  • Norwegian (NMC)

These certificates are valid for work on commercial vessels, passenger ships, oil platforms, and various specialized maritime fleets.


Fast and accurate medical examinations for seafarers

Examinations are carried out using modern diagnostic equipment to ensure maximum precision and fast results.

Available examinations:

  • Digital spirometry – assessment of lung function

  • Next-generation X-ray (RTG) examinations

  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) and cardiologist consultations

  • Doppler ultrasound of head and neck blood vessels

  • Ultrasound of the abdominal cavity, thyroid gland, and breast glands

  • Eye health and vision diagnostics (including colour vision), perimetry, OCT

  • Complete blood count and biochemical tests

  • Drug testing

  • Other necessary medical examinations according to state or shipping company requirements

How often must a seafarer undergo a medical examination?

According to international regulations:

  • Seafarers must undergo a health examination every two years (after the age of 50 – every year)

  • Ship cooks and stewards – every year, due to elevated hygiene requirements

Seafarers’ Medical Commission: important information and appointment rules

Prior appointment is mandatory!

Arrival requirements:

  • Arrive for the seafarers’ medical examination between 8:00 and 9:30

  • Bring:

    • Your previous medical certificate

    • Seafarer’s book

  • The examination can be performed no earlier than the 15th day after returning from a voyage

  • Do not attend with signs of illness (fever, cough, runny nose, etc.)
