During the examination, the body's energy expenditure—metabolic rate—is assessed while at rest, as well as the ratio of the main energy sources (carbohydrates or fats) consumed. This allows for an individualized calculation of the necessary food intake or the selection of an appropriate nutritional therapy to control the course of a disease.
Calorimetry is suitable for people looking to healthily reduce or increase body weight and improve metabolism. The examination is important for patients with adrenal and thyroid disorders, neuromuscular and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as for patients with severe chronic conditions (such as cystic fibrosis, cancer, AIDS, etc.).
