Midwives consult on the course and physiology of pregnancy, process of delivery, breathing techniques, childbirth positions, the post-partum period, correct care of new-borns, breastfeeding, handling (correct ways to hold, lift and carry a baby), etc. They also perform cardiotocography to check the foetus's heart tones.
If necessary, a midwife closely cooperates with other specialists: gynaecologists, general practitioners, physiotherapists, psychologists, nutrition specialists.
Midwives also take 3d/4D photos of the foetus with an ultrasonograph. The recommended time to consult a midwife is from 26th to 32nd week of gestation.
