EndoliftX® – a Minimally Invasive Laser Procedure for Skin Tightening and Improving Facial and Body Contours
EndoliftX® is a minimally invasive laser procedure in which laser energy is delivered to the subcutaneous tissues through an ultra-thin optical microfibre. The aim of the procedure is to stimulate collagen production, tighten the skin and improve its tone, as well as, in selected cases, target small localised deposits of subcutaneous fat. EndoliftX® is performed using the Eufoton® LASEmaR® 1500 device, which uses a 1470 nm diode laser. The manufacturer has designed this technology for skin tightening of the face and selected body areas, as well as for laser lipolysis.
The procedure is not a surgical facelift and does not replace plastic surgery in cases where significant tissue lifting or surgical removal of excess skin is required.
What is EndoliftX®?
The EndoliftX® procedure uses ultra-thin optical microfibres that are inserted into the subcutaneous layer and connected to the LASEmaR® 1500 laser device. Laser energy is delivered directly to the targeted subcutaneous tissues. The 1470 nm laser wavelength interacts with water and fat within the tissues, producing a controlled thermal effect.
EndoliftX®
The aims of the procedure are to:
stimulate the formation of new collagen;
promote remodelling of existing collagen fibres;
improve skin firmness and tone;
reduce skin laxity;
improve facial or body contours;
promote localised breakdown of fat cells, or lipolysis, in selected areas.
EndoliftX® is an interstitial laser procedure that acts on both deeper and more superficial tissue layers.
How is the EndoliftX® procedure performed?
Before the procedure, the specialist assesses the treatment area, the condition of the skin, the volume of subcutaneous tissue and the patient’s individual characteristics.
During the procedure:
local anaesthesia is administered to the treatment area;
an ultra-thin optical microfibre is inserted into the subcutaneous tissue through a small puncture site;
the microfibre is guided through the targeted tissue layer;
controlled laser energy is delivered using the LASEmaR® 1500;
depending on the treatment objective, tissue remodelling and collagen production are stimulated and, where required, localised lipolysis is performed.
The LASEmaR® 1500 is intended for interstitial laser therapy and uses a 1470 nm laser wavelength.
The EndoliftX® procedure does not require a traditional surgical incision or sutures.
Which facial areas can be treated with EndoliftX®?
EndoliftX® can be used in several areas of the face and neck:
cheeks and lower face;
jawline, to improve the facial contour;
under-chin area, to reduce a double chin;
neck;
in selected cases, the lower eyelid area.
EndoliftX® is particularly often used when the aim is to improve facial contours, tighten the skin or reduce a small localised amount of fat beneath the chin.
Which body areas can be treated with EndoliftX®?
EndoliftX® can also be used on selected body areas:
inner upper arms;
abdomen;
flanks and other body-contour areas, following individual assessment;
buttocks;
inner thighs;
knee area;
ankle area.
The procedure may be suitable in cases of mild to moderate skin laxity, loss of skin tone or small localised fat deposits.
EndoliftX® for the Facial Contour and Under-Chin Area
As we age, collagen levels decrease and the structure of the subcutaneous tissues changes, which can make facial contours less defined and the skin more lax.
EndoliftX® laser energy is delivered directly to the subcutaneous layer, where it can stimulate collagen remodelling and the formation of new collagen.
In the under-chin area, where anatomically appropriate, controlled laser lipolysis may also be performed during the procedure to target a small localised amount of fat.
The procedure can therefore be used for two complementary purposes:
skin tightening;
improving facial contours and reducing a small amount of localised fat.
EndoliftX® for Body Skin Tightening
EndoliftX® can also be used on body areas where the skin has become less firm due to ageing, weight changes or other factors.
For example, the procedure can be performed:
on the inner upper arms, where the skin has become lax;
on the abdomen and flanks, to improve skin tone and body contours;
around the knees, where the skin above the knee has become lax;
on the inner thighs, to improve skin firmness.
Suitability for treatment is assessed individually for each area.
EndoliftX® and Laser Lipolysis
EndoliftX® is not conventional surgical liposuction.
The 1470 nm laser used during the procedure can, in selected cases, be used for localised laser lipolysis, targeting small deposits of subcutaneous fat. One of the aesthetic medicine applications of the LASEmaR® 1500 is facial and body skin tightening combined with lipolysis.
If there is a larger volume of fat or significant excess skin, another treatment or surgical method may be more appropriate.
When are EndoliftX® results visible?
Some changes may be visible immediately after the procedure, but the final result does not develop in a single day.
Collagen remodelling is a gradual process, so improvements in skin firmness and structure may continue to develop for several months after the procedure. The manufacturer of EndoliftX® also states that results may be noticeable immediately and continue to improve gradually over the following months as new collagen forms.
The extent and duration of the results are individual and depend on:
age;
skin quality;
tissue anatomy;
degree of skin laxity;
amount of fatty tissue;
lifestyle;
treatment area.
How Many EndoliftX® Procedures Are Required?
The number of procedures is determined individually.
The manufacturer identifies the possibility of performing EndoliftX® as a single-session procedure in many cases as one of the benefits of the technology. However, the number of procedures required depends on the specific treatment area, anatomical situation and desired result.
The precise treatment plan is therefore determined during the consultation.
Is the EndoliftX® Procedure Painful?
Local anaesthesia is used before the procedure to reduce discomfort.
During the procedure, patients may experience pressure, warmth, a pulling sensation or other sensations. The intensity of these sensations varies from person to person, so it cannot be stated that the procedure is completely painless.
Recovery After EndoliftX®
EndoliftX® is a minimally invasive procedure, so the recovery period is generally shorter than after surgical facial or body correction.
Temporary effects in the treated area may include:
swelling;
redness;
tenderness;
mild discomfort;
bruising;
localised oedema.
Many patients can return to their usual daily activities relatively soon, although the exact recovery time varies individually.
The specialist’s instructions should be followed after the procedure.
Who May Be Suitable for EndoliftX®?
The procedure may be considered for patients who wish to:
improve skin firmness;
reduce mild to moderate skin laxity;
improve the facial contour and jawline;
correct the under-chin area or double chin;
improve neck skin tone;
tighten the skin of the upper arms, abdomen, thighs or knee area;
in selected cases, reduce small localised deposits of fat.
EndoliftX® is not a universal alternative to a surgical facelift. In cases of significant excess skin, a larger volume of fatty tissue or other anatomical changes, the specialist may recommend another method.
When is EndoliftX® Not Performed?
Suitability for the procedure is always assessed individually during the consultation.
It is particularly important to inform the specialist about:
pregnancy or breastfeeding;
acute infections;
skin inflammation or infection in the treatment area;
chronic medical conditions;
blood clotting disorders;
regularly used medications;
previous procedures or operations in the treatment area.
If required, additional medical assessment may be recommended before the procedure.
