Body Mass and Composition Analysis (Whole Body)

Body Mass and Composition Analysis (Whole Body)

The analysis and determination of whole body composition is performed using the latest generation osteodensitometry device, the Hologic Horizon W, which offers high-quality diagnostics with an even lower radiation dose, greater precision, and improved image resolution. The Horizon W model differs from standard osteodensitometers with several additional features that allow for a wider range of tests, such as:

  • High-quality standard osteoporosis and atypical femur fracture diagnostics with Horizon W.

  • Examinations in pediatrics.

The most notable additional feature of the Horizon W device is the highly precise determination and analysis of whole body composition. It not only provides a general overview of the patient's bone, muscle, and fat ratios but also accurately displays and analyzes their distribution in each body part. Detailed parameters, such as visceral fat, ensure maximum diagnostic accuracy.

Before the whole body composition test, the patient must empty their bladder. The test itself, during which the machine scans the entire body, takes only seven minutes. During the examination, the patient lies on their back on a flat surface and must remove all accessories, including a wedding ring, to ensure the highest level of accuracy.

After the test, the patient receives a detailed report and image, providing the doctor with comprehensive information about the patient's body composition (body mass and structure analysis) and overall health.

The Horizon W offers diagnostic capabilities in rheumatology, endocrinology, neurology, dietetics, gastroenterology, orthopedics, gynecology, and urology.

It should be noted that osteodensitometry devices by the American manufacturer Hologic are also used by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) in their research.

The radiation level is minimal – neither the patient nor the specialist requires additional protective equipment or special preparation.

Please note! Body mass and composition analysis is performed for patients aged 20 and older.

Both insurance-covered and paid services are available.
