Echocardiography (ECHO) for children is a safe, painless, and highly informative ultrasound examination of the heart that allows a detailed assessment of the heart’s structure and function. This examination is an essential diagnostic method in pediatric cardiology, helping to detect both congenital and acquired heart diseases at an early stage.
Echocardiography (ECHO) for children – accurate heart examination
At our medical center, echocardiography is performed for children from birth to 18 years of age using modern diagnostic equipment. During the examination, ultrasound is used to evaluate the condition of the heart valves, the size of the heart chambers, the function of the heart muscle, and blood flow through the heart.
When might a child need echocardiography?
A pediatric cardiologist may recommend an ECHO examination if:
there is a suspicion of congenital heart disease;
heart murmurs have been detected in the child;
the child experiences chest pain, shortness of breath, or palpitations;
the child has high blood pressure;
monitoring of the heart is required after a previously diagnosed heart condition;
a health check is required for sports activities or training.
The specialist helps diagnose and monitor:
congenital heart diseases in children;
acquired heart diseases;
heart rhythm and structural disorders;
other cardiovascular conditions in children.
Consultation and treatment plan after the examination
After the echocardiography (ECHO) examination, a consultation is recommended. During the consultation, the specialist explains the results, evaluates the child’s health condition, and, if necessary, prepares an individual plan for further examinations and treatment.
We provide care for children from birth to 18 years of age.
