• Managing post-operative pain – the anesthesiologist also assists in the patient's recovery process by creating a plan for pain management after the procedure and assessing the patient's condition.
• Managing emergencies – the anesthesiologist is trained to act quickly if complications arise during surgery, such as breathing or heart problems.

The anesthesiologist provides consultations before planned surgeries, thoroughly examining the patient and either giving permission for anesthesia or declining it.
